منظمة الهجرة: تراجع في أعداد المهاجرين السريين

أشارت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة في بيان لها إلى انخفاض كبير في عدد المهاجرين الذين يعبرون منطقة الساحل إلى أوروبا.

فوفقا للمنظمة التابعة للأمم المتحدة وصل عدد المهاجرين إلى حوالي 143 ألف مهاجر ولاجئ إلى أوروبا عن طريق البحر بحلول 11 أكتوبر 2017 مقابل حوالي 319 ألف في نفس التاريخ من عام 2016. الجزء الأكبر من المهاجرين (أكثر من 75 بالمائة) ذهب هذا العام إلى إيطاليا. وتبرر المنظمة هذا الانخفاض بالتدابير التي تتخذها الحكومات لمكافحة الهجرة غير النظامية.

وقد شهدت النيجر، وهي بلد عبور بامتياز للشباب من جنوب الصحراء الكبرى انخفاضا في عدد المهاجرين. ويرجع ذلك حسب المنظمة إلى تعزيز جهاز الأمن لجهود مكافحة هذه الظاهرة، وإغلاق “الجيتو” الذي كان يؤوي الشباب الذين ينتظرون الهجرة وتوقيف المهربين.

ومع ذلك، يحذر المكتب من أن المهاجرين يختارون طرقا التفافية أخرى. فشمال مالي حاليا تحت التهديد الجهادي أو على طول ساحل غرب أفريقيا وصولا إلى السنغال. ومن السنغال يمر المهاجرون عبر موريتانيا والمغرب إلى مضيق جبل طارق. وقد شهد هذا المسار الأخير في الأشهر الأخيرة تدفقات مرتفعة.
